Heloderma.net - Gila Monster (Heloderma suspectum)

heloderma suspectum

GILA-Monsters have inhabited our planet earth for about 100 million years and are contemporary with the dinosaurs.

The "dinos" as we know have been "extinguished" but Gila Monsters still inhabit North America and Mexico.

This Website wants to inform you about the Gila Monster (Heloderma suspectum). Its close relative, the Beaded Lizard (Heloderma horridum) is not part of this discussion.
We exclude long descriptions as the information is intended to be interpreted by the numerous pictures and video animations.

HELODERMA is the only so far known venomous lizard. None of the presented material or photos should animate anyone to touch these lizards.

The genus Heloderma is protected under Cites as an Appendix II species.

Anyone that wants further information about this species of Heloderma is welcome to contact me via this website.

This website was presented in German November 1st, 2006.
The English version followed March 1st, 2007;
